ABRC - Seed and DNA Facilities

 

The ABRC is located in the Ohio State University Plant Biotechnology Center, Columbus, Ohio, USA. The Center occupies laboratory rooms and staff offices in Rightmire Hall, and greenhouse rooms in two locations: the Biological Sciences Greenhouse Facility and the Plant Biotechnology Support Facility Greenhouse.

The seed area includes a laboratory, two humidity-controlled rooms for seed handling, four large growth chambers utilized for growing plants, three dry cold rooms in two locations for seed storage, and two -20C freezers off-site for long-term backup seed storage.

The DNA laboratory equipment includes a Biomek 2000 liquid handling robot, two incubators, and two laminar flow hoods. DNA stocks are stored in ten ultra-low freezers in three locations, and a walk-in cold room.

Rightmire Hall is the home of the ABRC. The Plant Biotechnology Center and the Neurobiotechnology Center, with faculty members from various departments throughout the university housed here.

Biological Sciences Greenhouse

ABRC occupies two greenhouse rooms in the Biological Sciences Greenhouse Facility, which also has an insectary, a quarantine facility, two research labs, and a growth chamber area.
