Defective in systemic acquired resistance (SAR) to Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato and Peronospora parasitica at the production or transport of the SAR mobile signal stage; exhibits wild-type local resistance to avirulent and virulent Pseudomonas syringae; pathogenesis-related gene expression is abolished in uninoculated distant leaves, failing to develop SAR to virulent Pseudomonas or Peronospora; seeds lose viability over time.
