Description:
Double mutant (dKO = double knockout) generated by crossing SALK_062946 (CS860076) and Garlic_169F06 (CS860077) homozygous lines; double homozygous plants were confirmed by PCR.
Growth Requirement: plants have to be grown at high CO2 atmosphere (~4000 ppm) to obtain viable seeds.

Ploidy: 2
Phenotype: Severe photorespiratory phenotypes: plants are small, pale, delayed in flowering and infertile; plants show a 70-fold increase in glycine levels and accumulate higher levels of 5- and 10-formyl tetrahydrofolate (THF) than the wild type; levels of amino acids and sugars are altered; leaf folate levels and composition are also altered; embryo development arrests between heart and early bent cotyledon stages; mature seeds are shriveled, carrying colorless embryos, accumulate low amounts of lipids, and fail to germinate; conditionally lethal, rescued by growth under non-photorespiratory (high CO2) conditions; culturing siliques in the presence of sucrose restores normal embryo development and seed viability.
Taxon: Arabidopsis thaliana 3702
