Description:
Set of 530 Arabidopsis multiparent recombinant inbred lines (AMPRIL). Eight founder accessions (Col, Kyo-1, Cvi, Sha, Eri-1, An-1, Ler, and C24) were crossed to produce six recombinant inbred line (RIL) sub populations. Founders were crossed pairwise to produce four F1 hybrids (A, Col x Kyo-1; B, Cvi x Sha; C, Eri-1 x An-1; and D, Ler x C24). These F1s were crossed according to a diallel scheme (AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, and CD) In all crosses, the first parent is the female. The resulting offspring was then selfed for three generations by single-seed descent. The F4 generation was genotyped with SNP and microsatellite markers. Data for flowering time and leaf morphology traits were determined in the F5 generation. Distribution seeds are the progeny of a F5 single-seed plant, where residual heterozygosity was present in the parent line (see genetic marker data). This implies that each F4 plant was still heterozygous for an average of 40 loci (in agreement with what was expected theoretically). This residual heterozygosity allows selection of heterogenous families for the QTL of interest. Some of the progeny might have become homozygous due to selfing.
