Plants that over-express this protein display a dominant dwarf phenotype reflecting enhanced DELLA activity; plants have much shorter hypocotyls than wild type, which cannot be rescued by GA. Plants are completely resistant to exogenously applied GA3 (an active form of GA) and accumulates at higher levels than wild-type, which cannot be further increased by PAC (paclobutrazol, a GA biosynthesis inhibitor).
