Heterozygotes tpl-1/+ show a weak cotyledon fusion defect. They segregate homozygous tpl-1 mutants. tpl-1 mutant seedlings have a range of cotyledon defects. The most severe phenotype of these mutants is a replacement of shoots with roots.
